Wander With Lo: A Spring Frolic Among the Tulips

Hello Loves! It’s been awhile but I’ve been working a little bit on many different pieces. I’m hoping to give you some more consistent content shortly! My social calendar has been on fire lately and I’m loving all of the time I’ve been spending with family and friends. Lets hop right into the real reason you’re here…TULIPS!

Burnside Farms has been a favorite of mine for awhile now and this year has topped all other years. Last year I was blown away by how beautiful the tulips were and this year the wind nearly blew me away! In all seriousness though, I have never seen a field of any kind as beautiful as the tulips this year. I’ll share a few photos from last year at the bottom of this post for a slight comparison. Beware: my editing style has changed since last year. That may have a slight effect on the difference but I promise it’s only slightly different.

Heading to Festival of Spring!

The day we chose to go was a windy one but it was well worth it for the views. Funny story actually, the day we had chosen to go was a spur of the moment decision! The farm had announced last minute over the weekend that the conditions had been perfect! The farm was opening earlier than anticipated. That was fantastic news….except we had a busy weekend shooting content. Our only opportunity to go was that Monday before I had work in the afternoon. Otherwise I would have to wait until the following Sunday. I knew that would be difficult for me. Mostly because the tulips would be picked over but also because the longer I waited the more likely the tulips would be out of peak bloom.

So off we went Monday morning to Nokesville, VA. What we thought would be a quick hour or so turned into a close to 4 hour event. We had so much fun being present in the moment that we had completely lost track of time! The photos we got from this day are some of my all time favorites.

I honestly don’t know how I’m going to find inspiration in the summer months. It has been so easy to get creative this spring with the various flowers blooming over the weeks. Let me know if you have any ideas for fun locations you’d like to see in the DMV!

Some information about Burnside Farms. The entrance to the tulip fields are $10 if you purchase online. Tulips are $1 per stem. If you pick a bulb and want to keep it to start your own garden it’s $1 per bulb!

I hope to see you at the Festival of Spring next year. Please tag me if you do attend! I’d love to see your photos.

With Love,

Lo
