Ah, the Big Apple. Living such a short distance away from this great city I’m sure most people are surprised I don’t make my way up there more often. Although I used to go to NYC at least once a year in the past I soon realized it had been a handful of years since my last visit to NYC. Some family friends were visiting from Switzerland and decided they wanted to see New York in all it’s glory during the holidays. So, off we went… the Saturday morning before Christmas.
We were only up in New York for a total of 3 days and it was honestly all we needed to get into the holiday spirit! Naturally I had a list as long as my arm of places I wanted to see, food I wanted to eat, and drinks I wanted to try but I’ll have to save part of that list for another trip.
The first day we went to visit the Brooklyn Bridge and DUMBO. It was so frigid outside but the sunset was absolutely breath taking.
The following day we took the bus in from New Jersey and walked to Times Square to see the surrounding attractions. There were so many people in the city that even the sights that were only a few blocks away took us way longer than anticipated. We made our way to Rockefeller Center and stood in line to get to Top of the Rock. If you’re looking for the best views of NYC this is an absolute must.
On our last day before we drove back to D.C. we made a stop by Cartier, the St. Patrick Cathedral, and the Flat iron building.
