One of the reasons fall is my favorite season is because of all of the fun activities! One of my favorite activities is…apple picking! We have been looking for a great orchard near D.C. and we decided on Mackintosh Fruit Farm. An added bonus, they are dog friendly!
Mackintosh Fruit Farm is a little over an hour from Washington D.C. They are open Wed-Sunday from 8 am – 6 pm. The best part, admission is free!
The first thing you need to do when you visit is grab a bucket or wagon. Since we had gone with my parents we decided on both buckets and a wagon to help carry our stuff. Plus who could pass up on that adorable photo opportunity. Once you have what you need to hold your fruit, head on out in the direction of the fruit you want. The farm has signs everywhere so it’s easy to find where each type of fruit is. They have a great selection of apples for all sorts of purposes.
If you spend enough time at the farm and end up walking the ground you will find it is absolutely gorgeous. We ended up taking a break and sitting on one of the chairs they had set up to soak in the beauty the farm had to offer. The dogs loved exploring just as much as we did, can’t you tell?
What fall activities do you have planned? Let me know down in the comments!
